Never Homeless

Group helpingReflections on the Gospel for the Fifth Sunday of Easter - John 14:1-12

Jesus makes a promise to his disciples during his final days before the Ascension: ""Do not let your hearts be troubled. You have faith in God; have faith also in me. In my Father's house there are many dwelling places." He promises that we will always have a home. In your town, some people are struggling day by day; some have no stable home. The Good News of Jesus is for them, too.

Your CFM group and your parish likely do good actions to help, collecting food or underwear or even volunteering with agencies that make a difference. We wish we could do more. Our hearts go out to people who are homeless, because we know how important home and family is. Sharing the Gospel with others includes helping the poor however we can. Your parish may have outreach programs you can assist with, or if not, your group can start one. Reliable agencies, like Catholic Charities, are doing great work to which you can contribute. Civic groups in your town get people from many churches, mosques, and synagogues working together to help the poor. They all can use your support and are a great way to put your faith into action.

What agency in your town is helping the homeless? How can you get involved?
